Kerstin Ekman
Roaming in old bookmarks I found this
video and can't remember when I put it there. The novel by Kerstin Ekman which brought her much praise and made her well-known —
Blackwater — I had read in German translation in 1995 (Geschehnisse am Wasser) and had liked very much, even if it is pretty dark. When a year ago I visited my friend (who'd introduced me to her writing in the first place), I dipped into Ekman's capacious essay: Herrarna i skogen (2007, in German: Der Wald. Eine literarische Wanderung) which seems not to have been published in English so far. Ekman has an intelligent and elegant way of writing and is full of stories and knowledge. In 2011 her novel Grand final i skojarbranschen (German: Schwindlerinnen) was published. It is always worthwhile to wait for what she will come up with next.
